Community Assessments |
|
Assessments by United Way of Central Indiana began when the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors established an organizational goal to “establish a shared vision with the community for the future by creating a collective understanding of key community interests, aspirations, assets and concerns.” Among the objectives identified in support of this goal was to provide a basis of common information for better funding decision-making and positions United Way as a valuable information source. The assessments were designed to serve as a regional resource for policy development, community impact priority setting, and funding decisions by the United Way Board of Directors, volunteers and other funders. We believe it also serves a secondary audience of donors, agencies, and the general citizenry who, through greater awareness of critical issues, needs and assets, will use the assessments to strengthen existing partnerships and forge new ones to strategically address the needs of our region. 2012 Health Assessment

2008 Community AssessmentThe 2008 Community Assessment is the product of more than a year’s work by staff, independent researchers, and volunteers, in particular the members of the Community Planning and Research Committee who reviewed and commented on chapter drafts and oversaw the process of setting priorities among the many recommendations. This in-depth study of the Central Indiana community and its needs is designed to create a collective understanding of key community conditions, assets and concerns. We hope it will serve as the stimulus for public conversation about how best to address the issues facing so many Hoosiers.
