2025-2026 Annual Report

Each year, United Way of Central Indiana has the privilege and responsibility of helping our neighbors live the lives they are capable of living — responding to urgent needs while also tackling the long-term challenges that keep too many families from stability and opportunity.

This year reminded us why that work matters. Across Central Indiana, 35% of households cannot afford a basic household budget.

In the face of this reality, United Way and community partners continued to act with urgency and purpose. In the past fiscal year, United Way invested $66.3 million in our mission and served 661,896 people and 6,161 families.

When federal SNAP disruptions threatened food access for thousands of Hoosiers, United Way helped launch the $1 million Central Indiana Food Relief Fund, directing support to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Midwest Food Bank of Indiana and Second Helpings.  

We strengthened early care and learning through the Central Indiana Child Care Alliance, and supported workforce pathways that help people earn credentials and move into better-paying careers. 

We also expanded opportunities for community engagement through Volunpair, a centralized volunteer hub that connects people with meaningful service opportunities and strengthens nonprofit volunteer capacity.

As you read this report, I hope you see the power of what happens when donors, volunteers, nonprofits, businesses, public partners and neighbors move together with a shared purpose. The challenges facing families are complex, but our commitment is clear: meet urgent needs, improve outcomes, distance families from poverty and create more opportunities for everyone.
