Applications open for United Way leadership development program

INDIANAPOLIS – Applications are now open for the 2025 session of Leadership United, a United Way of Central Indiana program that trains community leaders to serve on nonprofit boards.

Applications are due Oct. 25 and can be completed online at uwci.org/leadership-united. The program will meet about every other week from Jan. 15 to Aug. 20. The cost is $1,600.

As part of the nine-month program, participants will be matched with one of United Way’s accredited community organizations and serve as a fellow on that nonprofit’s board for six months.

Participants will receive personal leadership development, learn about the community’s most pressing issues, network with each other, and grow the skills and strengths that would make them excellent nonprofit board members. The program will train participants in fundraising, marketing, finance, legal issues, ethics, and diversity, equity and inclusion related to serving on a nonprofit board.

United Way of Central Indiana has offered the program for more than 35 years.
