Citizens Energy Group and United Way Sign Strategic Partnership Agreement to Strengthen Community Impact in 2018

 Citizens Energy Group President & CEO Jeffrey Harrison and United Way of Central Indiana President & CEO Ann Murtlow sign strategic partnership agreement at United Way’s Board Meeting on March 28  INDIANAPOLIS, IN –Today during the United Way of Central Indiana Board of Directors meeting, Citizens Energy Group (Citizens) became the first strategic partner with United Way of Central Indiana in 2018.  The partnership agreement between United Way and Citizens will build on the organizations’ strong foundation to create a more strategic and meaningful relationship. Together, United Way and Citizens will make measurable progress on their shared social impact goals for the community.  United Way President and CEO Ann D. Murtlow and Citizens CEO Jeffrey Harrison signed the agreement in United Way’s headquarters located at 2955 North Meridian Street.  Citizens has a long-standing relationship that has promoted philanthropic giving through workplace campaigns and other programs that have contributed greatly to improving communities and lives in Central Indiana. The Utility Service Company has consistently received the “Company That Cares” award and received the honor of the “Spirit United” award in 2013 from United Way of Central Indiana.  The Strategic Partnership Agreement between United Way and Citizens was established to drive positive, measurable social change as well as enhance employee engagement and collaborative community impact.  The partnership includes the following commitments:

  • Align on community impact opportunities that further the community priorities of Citizens and United Way.
  • Drive greater focus on meaningful year-round employee engagement to strengthen both community impact and philanthropic spirit.
  • Identify “best practices” for associate volunteer activities across Central Indiana and enhance the donor experience.

In February of 2016, United Way Worldwide, United Way of Central Indiana and Eli Lilly and Company signed an agreement that elevated Lilly employee engagement, advocacy and volunteerism in communities across the globe. In March of 2017, OneAmerica signed an agreement emphasizing the company’s values of improving the quality of life, focusing on overall impact through ongoing volunteerism and advocacy, in addition to dollars raised and invested.
