“Community Baby Shower” on June 21 is a part of United Way’s Global Day of Action

INDIANAPOLIS – One in three American mothers struggles to provide the most essential items to their newborns. Diapers, wipes, clothing, burp cloths – these are the items that families need the most.

United Way of Central Indiana (UWCI) is seeking donations of new baby items for a Community Baby Shower, as part of United Way Worldwide’s “Day of Action.” Individuals can drop off donations along Pennsylvania Street in front of Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Donations will be sorted by volunteers and will be distributed to United Way of Central Indiana partner agencies that support families in need: Catholic Charities, the Children’s Bureau, the Julian Center and Sheltering Wings.

Suggested donation items (new):
• Diapers – all sizes
• Diaper cream, baby powder, baby lotion and baby body wash
• Baby wipes
• Onesies – all sizes
• Burp cloths

Suggested donation items (new or gently used):
• Strollers
• Bouncy chairs

Volunteers also are needed for several shifts on Tuesday, June 21. For more information, go to http://www.uwci.org/events/community-baby-shower.
