Community-based organizations invited to apply for United Way accreditation through Dec. 3
INDIANAPOLIS – United Way of Central Indiana is inviting 501(c)3 community-based organizations that meet current eligibility requirements to apply for United Way accreditation through Dec. 3, 2020.
To receive accreditation with United Way, a nonprofit in the human services sector must meet all legal requirements for a nonprofit agency in the State of Indiana; align with United Way’s focus areas of education, financial stability, health and basic needs; and serve individuals and families in Boone, Hancock, Hamilton, Hendricks, Marion and Morgan counties. Accreditation positions the nonprofit organization to be eligible for United Way impact funding, while assuring donors that United Way investments are well-vetted.
In this open call for new applications, United Way is looking to accredit new partners in select geographic locations and in specific areas of service. Accreditation applications will be accepted if a community-based organization meets the minimum accreditation requirements, plus any one of the below criteria:
Aligns with United Way focus areas and serves clients in the zip codes of 46218, 46201, 46222, 46226, or 46208
Aligns with United Way focus areas and serves clients in Boone, Hancock, Hendricks, Hamilton, and Morgan counties
Provides services in one or more of the following areas: adult education, adult or youth workforce development, or mental, behavioral or substance abuse
Application Information
Organizations seeking accreditation should review the accreditation guidebook to review eligibility and application criteria. To apply, organizations can go online to the accreditation application portal. Applications are due by 5 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 3.

As of today, 89 organizations throughout United Way’s six-county service areas are accredited. Through this partnership with a vetted network of human service agencies, United Way helps to provide the necessities that stabilize individuals in crisis, improve the education and economic mobility of families, and create innovative solutions to disrupt generational poverty in our community.
