Nominations open for ELEVATE, United Way’s annual awards honoring young philanthropists

Nominations are now being accepted for ELEVATE, United Way of Central Indiana’s annual awards honoring the region’s top young philanthropists, advocates and volunteers.  

The fifth annual event will recognize five people or groups who exemplify the leadership, philanthropy and ingenuity needed to move our community forward on important social causes. Proceeds will benefit United Way of Central Indiana’s Basic Needs Fund, which ensures access to food, housing, transportation and health services.  

Winners will be announced at the winter event, a 1970s disco-themed brunch, at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 18 at the Biltwell Event Center, 950 S. White River Parkway W. Drive, Indianapolis. Tickets starting at $50 can be purchased at uwci.org/elevate.   

Nominees must be 21-40 and live or work in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Marion, Morgan or Putnam counties. Nominations are open through Dec. 23 and can be submitted at uwci.org/elevate.   

The categories are:  

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advocate of the Year: Small group or young professional who, either through their employment or as a volunteer, has committee to raising awareness and advocating for a more diverse, equitable and inclusive Central Indiana.   

Emerging Leader(s) of the Year: A group of young professionals or an individual who has raised awareness of local and social issues through a project or initiative that has engaged their peers and created significant impact in the community. 

Nonprofit Employee of the Year: Young professional nonprofit employee who makes exceptional contributions in the workplace and displays leadership qualities that go above and beyond their job responsibilities.  

Volunteer of the Year: Young professional volunteer whose unselfish and dedicated service has made meaningful and lasting impact in Central Indiana and has demonstrated outstanding service, leadership and commitment to a nonprofit organization.  

People’s Choice: All ELEVATE finalists have the opportunity to be named the “People’s Choice” by the public voting for the person who most inspires them.
