Greg Fennig Joins United Way of Central Indiana as Chief Marketing, Communications and Community Relations Officer
INDIANAPOLIS – United Way of Central Indiana (UWCI) has named Greg Fennig as the organization’s Chief Marketing, Communications and Community Relations Officer. This is a newly defined leadership role as part of UWCI’s new strategic framework. Fennig is no stranger to community impact, as he brings more than 25 years of experience in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. Most recently, he was Vice President of Public Affairs for Indianapolis Power & Light Company and prior to that, President and CEO of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. In addition, he has been in leadership roles on numerous boards and committees around Central Indiana. His passion for people and the community make him a perfect addition to UWCI. “I’m humbled to continue serving my community through such an impactful organization like United Way,” said Fennig. “I look forward to working with fellow colleagues who share the same passion for strengthening our communities and helping individuals and families achieve the path to self-sufficiency.” UWCI President and CEO Ann Murtlow believes Fennig will be a key contributor to the organization’s overall vision. “As we continue to solve our community’s most complex issues, Greg’s leadership and strategic outlook will be critical to the success of our marketing, communications and community relations efforts moving forward,” Murtlow said. Fennig succeeds Chris Herndon, who, after nearly seven years with United Way, most recently as Chief Marketing Officer, has decided to pursue other opportunities. “While I will greatly miss this extraordinary United Way team, it’s an honor to hand the baton to Greg,” said Herndon. “This is an exciting time of transformation for the organization, and I’m confident Greg will influence United Way to be increasingly impactful in fighting for health, financial stability, basic needs, and education for everyone in our community.”
