JPMorgan Chase Making an Impact, One Person at a Time
When embarking on a corporate volunteer initiative like a Day of Caring, it’s good to think ahead about what you want to accomplish, and just how much you can invest in the day. According to JPMorgan Chase, they’re driven to make an impact in the communities where we live and work by leveraging assets of the firm, ranging from employee service to investments in programs to support inclusive economic growth. Their hope is that one meal served, one flower planted, one freshly painted apartment, or one brand-new storage container makes a difference for one neighbor. But they don’t stop there. They repeat and scale their efforts to help as many people as possible. As an organization, JPMorgan Chase is committed to working with local partners to drive positive change in communities across the world. For the team in Indiana, the Day of Caring event is one way to continue living out that commitment. With corporate support, JPMorgan Chase can unleash many volunteers and cover the cost of supplies for maintenance projects, multiplying the impact. With that in mind, they were able to reach not one, but six different sites in one day. The variety of opportunities also allowed employees the chance to pick a place to volunteer that personally resonated, or to try something different and learn about a new issue. “We volunteer in our community throughout the year, yet this day was uniquely special,” said Stacy Britt-Hart, Program Manager for JPMorgan Chase’s Commercial Bank and Chair of the Indiana Volunteer Leadership Group. “We learned about organizations and neighbors that are facing challenges and were able for one moment to be a light of friendship or provide a bright new view to the places they pass day in and day out. We didn’t set out to move mountains, we set out to make one person feel good. If we did that, we struck the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.” Organizations who benefitted included Flanner House, Finish Line Boys and Girls Club, Family Development Services, Noble of Indiana, HVAF, and Horizon House. Some of the service opportunities involved hands-on labor. For example, at Flanner House, volunteers assisted with weeding, planting, watering, and general upkeep of Flanner Farms. JPMorgan Chase donated mulch and a pair of gardening gloves for every volunteer. Other projects included direct service opportunities, like working on crafts with clients at Noble of Indiana. We’re certainly honored to be part of their commitment to Central Indiana!
