United Way’s leadership development program kicks off 2025 session

INDIANAPOLIS – This week, United Way of Central Indiana welcomes 31 participants to its newest session of Leadership United, a program that trains professionals on how to serve on nonprofit boards.

United Way has offered the program for more than three decades.

Over the next eight months, participants will complete service projects and receive training in fundraising, marketing, finance, legal issues, ethics, and diversity, equity and inclusion related to serving on a nonprofit board. They will learn about United Way’s work in data and research, grantmaking, sector support, equity action and public policy – and about poverty and the population United Way serves.

Participants also will be matched with one of United Way’s accredited community organizations and serve on that nonprofit’s board as a fellow for six months.
