United Way of Central Indiana names new director of infrastructure

INDIANAPOLIS – United Way of Central Indiana has announced that Michael McKillip will serve as its new director of infrastructure.

McKillip began in the position this month. He takes over the role held by Gary Woodworth, who will retire in May after more than 13 years with United Way.

McKillip will work closely with community organizations throughout United Way’s seven-county service area on their capital projects and facilities maintenance and technology needs. He brings with him more than two decades of experience in nonprofit leadership focused on real estate, fund development and government affairs.

McKillip comes to United Way from Midtown Indy, a nonprofit centered around quality of life and economic vitality in the city’s Midtown. He helped establish the organization and served as its executive director for 12 years.

McKillip previously worked in government affairs and advocated for nonprofits at the Indiana Statehouse before focusing on neighborhood revitalization as a realtor and general contractor.

A native of southern Indiana, McKillip has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Indiana University Southeast.
