OneAmerica and United Way Form Strategic Partnership to Drive Lasting Community Impact

OneAmerica Chairman, President and CEO Scott Davison and United Way of Central Indiana President and CEO Ann Murtlow sign strategic partnership agreement in new United Way headquarters

OneAmerica, a national leader in insurance and financial services with its headquarters in Indianapolis, and United Way of Central Indiana strengthened their longstanding relationship by formalizing a strategic partnership designed to drive positive, measurable change in the community. United Way President and CEO Ann D. Murtlow and OneAmerica Chairman, President and CEO Scott Davison signed this new agreement in United Way’s new headquarters located at 2955 North Meridian Street.

For decades, United Way and OneAmerica have promoted community support and philanthropy through workplace giving programs. United Way has frequently honored OneAmerica with “Company That Cares” and “Spirit United” awards for its commitment to supporting United Way’s community impact work. The new agreement builds on that foundation to create transformative social impact in the areas of education, financial stability, health and basic needs for the greater Indianapolis area and in other communities where OneAmerica and United Way have a presence. The agreement emphasizes OneAmerica’s company values of improving the quality of life in its shared community while being a strategic partner with United Way, focusing on overall impact through ongoing volunteerism and advocacy, in addition to dollars raised and invested.

The partnership includes the following commitments:

  • United Way and OneAmerica will work together to provide meaningful, year-round volunteer opportunities for all employees.

  • United Way will offer opportunities for community leadership and board involvement for OneAmerica associates.

  • OneAmerica will continue a company matching program for all employees and retirees.

  • In the area of education, OneAmerica will support United Way’s Indy Preschool Scholarship Program and other early childhood education initiatives in the United Way network.

  • OneAmerica and United Way will collaborate to support a connected network of human services agencies that drive measurable impact in the community.

“OneAmerica is proud to deepen our commitment to community efforts by becoming a strategic partner with United Way,” said Scott Davison. “When people are educated, families are fed, kids are cared for and the homeless have help, it makes our city a better, more beautiful place. For 140 years, OneAmerica has been a part of this community. And we are looking to make an even greater impact in the future.”

This is the second strategic partnership agreement between United Way of Central Indiana and a major corporate partner. In February of 2016, United Way Worldwide, United Way of Central Indiana and Eli Lilly and Company signed a new agreement that elevated Lilly employee engagement, advocacy and volunteerism in communities across the globe.

“United Way fights for every person to have a quality education, a stable home, good health and his or her basic needs met, but we cannot win this fight alone,” said Ann Murtlow. “This is another landmark moment for United Way, as we strategically align our value proposition with our corporate partners’ strategies to address needs and solve the complex issues confronting our communities. We are delighted to partner with OneAmerica and its dedicated, community minded employees to create transformational change for good.”
