United Way of Central Indiana and the Indianapolis Colts Draw a Big Crowd to Monument Circle for the 2017 BIG Kickoff
INDIANAPOLIS - Today, United Way of Central Indiana celebrated its 100th birthday in a big way at the 2017 BIG Kickoff with the Indianapolis Colts on Monument Circle. This community event brought hundreds of people to partake in special activities including music from The Doo, food truck vendors and a free yoga class courtesy of Indy Yoga Movement. Additionally, 58 United Way Agencies from across the region were in attendance, sharing information with guests about how to get involved through volunteerism. Keeping with the centennial theme, agencies were placed around the circle based on the era in which they became a United Way Agency. During the program, Special Guest Emcee IndyCar Driver James Hinchcliffe, United Way Community Engagement Co-Chairs Mark Miles and Allison Melangton, Colts Sr. Director or Marketing Stephanie Pemberton and United Way President and CEO Ann Murtlow shared how attendees can join the fight for education, financial stability, health and basic needs of every person in its community. And one lucky guest won two tickets to the Colts Home Opener. Other event announcements included a promotion for a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to the Super Bowl, courtesy of the Indianapolis Colts. Anyone who donates $10 to United Way from September 1 – November 30, 2017 will be entered in a raffle to win a pair of Super Bowl tickets. The kickoff celebration also marked the launch of United Way’s “100 Heroes” promotion. For more information about how to get involved during United Way’s 100th Anniversary, visit uwci.org/100.
