United Way of Central Indiana names Vice President of Public Policy
INDIANAPOLIS – United Way of Central Indiana (UWCI) has named Christina Hage as its new Vice President of Public Policy. She will provide leadership for UWCI’s public policy and governmental affairs work at the federal, state and local levels.
Ms. Hage has more than a decade of experience in state and federal government and the private sector with a focus on public policy, communications and government affairs. Most recently, she was an advisor at FirstPerson Advisors where she led the firm’s communications practice, helping clients develop employee engagement and communications strategies. She also has worked at Cummins Inc. where she was part of a team responsible for internal communications regarding health benefits, wellness programs, compensation and retirement. Prior to that position, she served as Legislative and Policy Director for the Family and Social Services Administration where she oversaw, legislation, policy, administrative rulemaking, marketing and media relations. Prior to serving in state government, Hage served in several legislative, policy, lobbying and communications positions in Washington D.C., including on Capitol Hill, contract lobbying for the State of Indiana and IU Health and spokeswoman for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
Hage holds a bachelor of arts in international marketing and economics from Taylor University. She is a graduate the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series and is a member of the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana OPTIONS Class 16. Hage succeeds Andrew Cullen, who has transitioned to private consulting and will continue to serve UWCI for the push toward pre-k expansion in Indiana in the upcoming legislative session.
UWCI’s Public Policy Agenda
United Way of Central Indiana fights for the education, financial stability, health and basic needs of every person in the community. In 2016, UWCI’s public policy agenda has included various advocacy initiatives, most notably, a direct lobbying effort to expand pre-k for low income families in the 2017 legislative session. In addition, UWCI is a partner in All IN 4 Pre-K, an advocacy campaign led by Early Learning Indiana that works with Hoosier families, education groups, community advocates and business leaders across the state to grow awareness of pre-k’s impact and highlight the need for expansion.
