Tell us about yourself.
I am from Indianapolis, IN and I have been involved with United Way in one way, or another for 23 years.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about my faith and what I can do to help others through their journey. I am a woman, but I remember being a girl, and sometimes it was tough. I am passionate about helping girls and women find their way in this world.
What does leadership mean to you?
Being an example. I read about people in the public eye who say that they are not an example. But the truth is, we all are. Leadership means doing what needs to be done -- whether that’s being strong and leading through tough times, or stepping away from my desk and lending a helping hand.
When did you first become involved with United Way?
Right out of college. I wanted to give the resources I had to something, and at the time I worked too many hours to volunteer.
What inspired you to become more involved with United Way?
Seeing the impact. We would have a representative come to our company to speak and I was impressed with the programs. It’s clear to see the reach United Way has is so immense.
What interested you most about Women United?
I like that women band together to solve problems, it's kind of like a group of Super Heroes.
What is your favorite memory or event with Women United and why?
I like putting together the school kits. A group of women in business suits all took their shoes off, drank a little wine, and got busy. Not all events are like this I am sure, but this was really great.
What does it mean to you to Live United?
If we are divided, we fall.
What would you tell someone who’s interested in getting more involved with United Way?
Do it. Make an imprint in your community.
