If you went to school without a pencil, notebooks or calculator, would you be able to succeed? Probably not. For many children throughout Central Indiana, this is something they face every year when they head back to school. Without the right supplies, they are unable to perform to the best of their ability, causing them to struggle and fall behind.
Knowing that a quality education is the best path out of poverty, United Way of Central Indiana promotes Backpack UNITED. Children throughout the five-county radius of Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks and Morgan receive school supplies during the summer so they can head back to school ready to learn. See the results of the 2017 year below!
