The fall calendar for United Way of Central Indiana’s (UWCI) Nonprofit Training Center includes sessions on grantwriting for beginners, diversifying your board, multichannel fundraising and more, announced United Way.
United Way's Nonprofit Training Center helps nonprofit organizations in Central Indiana increase their capacity to govern and effectively manage themselves by providing practical, affordable training and technical assistance through workshops and other experiences.
The sessions are all at United Way's 3901 N. Meridian Street headquarters in Indianapolis. Offerings beginning in August are:
Grantwriting for Beginners, Wednesday, Aug. 7, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., will be taught by Toyin Martin, United Way's manager of major and strategic giving. Participants will learn how to use data to build a case, how to research funding sources and other elements of managing and evaluating a grant project. The cost is $60 for United Way agencies and $70 for others.
Diversifying Your Board, Wednesday, Aug. 28, 9-11 a.m., will be taught by Christa Thacker, United Way's Leadership United manager. What to look for in recruiting new board members and how to be strategic to strengthen an organization's board will among topics covered in this workshop. The cost is $20 for United Way agencies and $25 for others.
The Future of Fundraising Multichannel Fundraising, Thursday, Oct. 10, 9 a.m.-noon, will be taught by Derrick Feldmann, CEO, Achieve and co-author of "Cause for Change: The Why and How of Nonprofit Millennial Engagement." This session will explain the elements of multichannel campaigns and how to create approaches and messages to which donors will respond. The cost is $25 for United Way agencies and $30 for others.
Outcomes Made Easy! Tuesday, Oct. 22, 9-11 a.m. The hands-on class will teach participants how to demonstrate that their organization is changing the lives of the those they serve. Taught by Kim Donahue, director of UWCI's Nonprofit Training Center, the session costs $20 for United Way agencies and $25 for others.
