Tell us about yourself.I am a recruiter at Lilly and grew up in Noblesville and Carmel. I went to school at Butler University and I love the Bulldogs! I’m excited about our new men’s basketball head coach: Lavalle Jordan. What are you passionate about?I get hyper excited about people’s careers - when there is someone pursuing their goals or seeking opportunities for ‘something greater’. I get excited about jumping in and offering to help them with coaching and networking for their goals. When and how did you first become involved with United Way?20 years ago, when I joined Lilly, there was an introduction to new employees about United Way. Over the years, I have gradually stepped up my engagement with United Way through programs and volunteer opportunities. Why do you choose to support United Way’s mission?United Way spans across all of Indiana and the United States; its impact on my community and the communities across the U.S. is great. I see the difference it makes in my neighbors’ lives and my community. My relationship with United Way offers me the opportunity to be able to advocate and impact my community. As a Lilly employee, how do you feel about their level of partnership with United Way?The partnership with United Way has been enriching and fulfills my needs to be a part of making a difference ‘in my own way’. I continue to have a ‘gain’ each day that I interact, advocate, and learn more about the actions and impact United Way makes on Indiana. When did you become involved with Diversity Leadership Circle?I learned about the Diversity Leadership Circle from my peers at work. I liked that the leadership community is building a strategy that will pay it forward and have a stake in our diverse community needs. What interested you most about Diversity Leadership Circle?I enjoy the focus of the group: financial stability for our community. I have experienced what it is like to be a part of a family that had the ‘potential to be unstable’; I know that the services, agencies, and resources that come together for our community are needed. Another ‘bonus’ of being a part of this group is meeting individuals in the community that I would not have met without connecting in the DLC circle. What is your favorite memory or event with Diversity Leadership Circle?One of my first Diversity Leadership Circle experiences was attending Behavioral Health Court in Marion County. It was also one of the most impactful events for me in many years; I learned there are citizens in my community whom have need to be given the opportunity for attaining stability with court social services program versus being placed in the criminal system.
