Diversity Leadership Circle Member Spotlight: Tekiah Tunstall

Tell us about yourself (job, home town, any other fun facts)I’ve been to most of the lower 48 states, but I’m glad to call Indy home. I’m a technical project manager tasked with creating, analyzing and optimizing business processes. I love Indy for all it has to offer: Indy Jazz Fest, the ISO, museums and parks are just some of the reasons I enjoy living here. What are you passionate about?I’m passionate about helping others succeed. I have had the opportunity to serve in many capacities on various non-profit boards, but it has always brought the most joy when I can help others reach their goals. When did you become involved with Diversity Leadership Circle?I heard about and joined DLC this summer. This is my first time participating in a giving circle. It has been a rewarding challenge to learn about how the group functions, and I look forward to more involvement in the future. Why do you choose support United Way’s mission?Hailing from Indy, I have been fortunate enough to see the impact of United Way for most of my life. I’ve had the privilege of participating in and supporting initiatives such as United Day of Caring, Gleaners Food Bank and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. What stood out to me about United Way is their desire to make life better for Central Indiana residents and the many programs and agencies that directly impact their mission. As a Stanley Security Solutions employee, how do you feel about the new level of partnership with United Way? I work for a business that supports United Way and couldn’t be more proud that the work I do on a daily basis also contributes to the success of United Way. I look forward to finding more ways of partnering with United Way to maximize the impact we have serving the greater Indianapolis area. What interested you most about Diversity Leadership Circle? The choice was a no-brainer for me. After hearing about the groups' purpose and speaking with long-time members, I knew I wanted to be part of DLC and help them to fulfill their mission. I'm grateful for the opportunity to improve financial stability for Central Indiana residents. What is your favorite memory or event with Diversity Leadership Circle? My favorite event so far has been attending Symphony on the Prairie with DLC and other affinity group members. UWCI definitely knows how to have a great time, and made us feel right at home. The weather was perfect and by the end of the evening we were all ''feeling groovy." I look forward to our 100 year celebration event on November 14.
