IMS staffer begins charity ride to California

Jimmie McMillian is riding his Harley-Davidson for 35 hours and 2,255 miles

Jimmie McMillian, Senior Corporate Counsel for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, is riding his Harley-Davidson for 35 hours and 2,255 miles from IMS to the Verizon IndyCar Series finale in Sonoma, California, to kick off a United Way 2017 fundraising campaign supported by IMS.

McMillian is a longtime United Way volunteer and donor in Indianapolis.

“United Way of Central Indiana is proud to have community partners like the Indianapolis Motor Speedway,” said United Way Area Director West Adriann Young.

“Great leaders like Jimmie McMillian are the reason our organization is able to make such an impact in the community. We are excited to watch Jimmie’s journey across the country as he raises dollars to support our community’s greatest needs.”

McMillian began his journey Wednesday morning from famed Yard of Bricks and hopes to arrive in Sonoma in time for Sunday's IndyCar race.
