The Indy Free Tax Prep program eases the financial burden of the tax preparation process and ensures individuals and families with a household income of $66,000 or less receive their full tax refund. “With 200 knowledgeable and dedicated volunteers at nine sites throughout our city and region, we hope to prepare more than 7,500 tax returns this year,” said Kate McNight, IRS. “We all want the same thing – help our central Indiana residents keep more of their hard-earned money.” Indy Free Tax Prep will offer services in Marion, Hendricks, Hancock, Morgan and Boone Counties. Taxpayers may visit IndyFreeTaxPrep.com or call 2-1-1 for more details, locations, hours and information to schedule an appointment at a nearby site. Taxpayers with a combined household income of $66,000 or less can also choose to self-file their taxes online for free at myfreetaxes.com. Indy Free Tax Prep supports United Way of Central Indiana’s community goal of reducing the number of financially unstable households in Central Indiana. Last year, more than 7,500 tax returns were prepared for individuals and families at no cost, resulting in more than $8 million in refunds.
