United Way welcomes 39 participants to 2024 session of leadership development program

INDIANAPOLIS – For more than three decades, United Way of Central Indiana’s Leadership United program has trained participants on how to serve on nonprofit boards.

This week, the program welcomes 39 participants for the start of the newest session.

Over the next six months, participants will complete service projects and receive training in fundraising, marketing, finance, legal issues, ethics, and diversity, equity and inclusion related to serving on a nonprofit board. They will learn about United Way’s work in data and research, grantmaking, sector support, equity action and public policy – and about poverty and the population United Way serves.

Participants also will be matched with one of United Way’s accredited community organizations and serve on that nonprofit’s board as a fellow for six months.
