Nate Lichti to Lead Basic Needs Fund for United Way of Central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS — United Way of Central Indiana continues to recruit some of the region’s top talent, including Nate Lichti, who joined the organization today as Senior Director of Basic Needs Fund. Lichti will be leading a cross-functional team to support investments in safe and affordable housing, healthy food access, physical, mental and behavioral health, and transportation for struggling individuals throughout Central Indiana. He will engage community-based organizations, philanthropic, public and private partners, as well as individuals that seek to learn, give, advocate, and volunteer to strengthen our community. Lichti previously served as a consultant for nonprofit organizations with IFF, a regional community development financial institution, and has leadership experience in several other community development organizations in the greater Indianapolis area, including at Hamilton County Area Neighborhood Development (HAND) Inc. and Mapleton-Fall Creek Development Corporation. Lichti is also heavily involved in advocacy for Indiana community development organizations as vice president and board member of Prosperity Indiana. He is also part of several community task forces and initiated the first Neighborhoods NOW housing conference which is held annually in Hamilton County. “I look forward to bringing the same passion I have for service to my community to a role that requires me to be actively involved in the conversations and solutions that address poverty throughout central Indiana,” said Lichti. Chief Impact Officer Sara VanSlambrook is excited to add another community leader and innovator to the Impact team and looks forward to seeing Lichti drive the strategy and execution of the Basic Needs Fund. “We know that in order for anyone to achieve a path to self-sufficiency their basic needs must be met, whether that’s a roof over their head, confidence in where their next meal is coming from, or adequate transportation to and from their jobs,” said VanSlambrook. “Nate’s direction and leadership for this fund will help stabilize individuals and families in emergency situations, provide the essentials to our most vulnerable neighbors, and strengthen the systems of support across our community.” Learn more about the Basic Needs Fund on the United Way website.
