United Way of Central Indiana named to the 2018 Best Places to Work in Indiana list
United Way of Central Indiana has once again been named to the Best Places to Work in Indiana list. The organization had previously been awarded the honor each year from 2011 to 2014. "On behalf of our board of directors and staff, I'm so proud United Way has been chosen as a 'Best Place to Work,'" said Ann D. Murtlow, president and CEO. "We know we must recruit and retain a strong and diverse team on the inside in order for our work to make a significant impact on the outside. This recognition is a testament to our entire staff for living United Way's values of courage, accountability, respect and excellence each and every day." More than 50 of the 125 Hoosier companies are first-time honorees or returning after at least a year’s absence, says the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Nearly half of the honorees (57) are from the small employer group, with all categories seeing an increase. More than 200 companies applied to the program. United Way of Central Indiana was among the 30 companies in the Medium Category which includes companies with between 75 and 249 employees. “We have many tremendous employers in the state, so it’s great to see more and more companies take part in this effort to evaluate their workplace cultures and gain the recognition they deserve,” offers Indiana Chamber President Kevin Brinegar.” “These organizations come from a wide variety of industries yet they all have a common thread. They continually demonstrate to their employees through their culture, communication, career opportunities, benefits and more how much they value their contributions.” The actual rankings for the companies will be unveiled at a May 3 awards dinner at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis. These top companies in the state were determined through employer reports and comprehensive employee surveys. The Best Companies Group, which handled the selection process, oversees similar programs in 25 other states. In addition to the May 3 awards dinner, winners will be recognized via a special section of the Indiana Chamber’s bimonthly BizVoice® magazine and through Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick – both of which reach statewide audiences. The 2018 Best Places to Work in Indiana awards dinner is open to the public. Individual tickets and tables of 10 are available at www.indianachamber.com/specialevents. All companies that participated in the 2018 Best Places to Work program receive an in-depth evaluation identifying strengths and weaknesses according to their employees. In turn, this report can be used in developing or enhancing employee retention and recruitment programs. For more information on the Best Places to Work program, go to www.bestplacestoworkIN.com.
