Why did you apply for the Youth Leadership United program?

I applied for this program because I wanted to learn and achieve the skills and experience necessary to become a community leader and role model.

What was the most valuable thing you learned? 

The most valuable thing I learned was how to become involved in civic engagement with my school and Central Indiana community.

What surprised you about the program?

I was surprised about how fun and exciting it was. Every day we had interactive and enjoyable activities that taught us what we needed to know and provided entertainment at the same time.

What was your favorite project or class and why?

My favorite class was the fire simulation experiment because it taught us how important communication and interaction with people [is] in order to better ourselves and everybody else.

What would you say to someone who was thinking about applying?

I would highly recommend this program due to the experience, connections and skills you gain as well as the amazing friends you make.

How has the program supported your leadership skills?

It has allowed me to become the only youth member and leader on the United Way of Central Indiana Board of Directors as well as other United Way activities.

Who should apply to this program?

High school students who are hardworking, committed and passionate about helping people and making a difference in Indiana.
