Understanding Our Biases with the Nonprofit Learning Center

A Workshop on Implicit Biases with Ashlee Weaver

Understanding our personal biases is one of the first steps in opening ourselves to being more accepting of people – all people. The biases we carry through life grow out of our experiences, upbringing, and the influences around us. We all have them. This session will help you discover your own biases and how to move past them as you engage and connect with the communities you serve.

We are excited to have UWCI’s Ashlee Weaver and The Learning Tree as our facilitators for this session.

Ashlee Weaver began her nonprofit career in 2013, serving consecutive AmeriCorps terms as a VISTA and a Public Ally. She has worked with Girl Scouts of Central Indiana, the Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center (INRC), and currently serves as Senior Director of Community & Capacity Building with United Way of Central Indiana. She is passionate about connecting community with decision makers and has extensive experience with facilitating dialogues on racial equity, diversity, and implicit bias. She believes these tough conversations are our best option for growing and nurturing accepting and inclusive communities, where we all have the opportunity to grow and thrive.

We hope to see you there - virtually!
