ReadUP
ReadUP is United Way of Central Indiana's signature literacy initiative that connects volunteers with local elementary schools to help third-grade students reading below grade level build the literacy skills they need to succeed. Volunteers spend one hour each week providing one-on-one tutoring to two students, helping them get on track and stay on track with grade-level literacy.
Since 2007, ReadUP has helped third graders across Central Indiana become stronger, more confident readers. Third grade is a pivotal year when students transition from learning to read to reading to learn, making reading proficiency a strong predictor of future academic and economic success.
