5 Reasons Young Professionals Should Join United Way LINC

United Way LINC (Lead. Impact. Network. Change.) is United Way’s newest membership group of young professionals looking to get hands on involved in our community. As our members say, “LINC isn't like other networking groups; it's not power suits and handshakes, it's more like hi-fives and hugs.” So, why should you check out our next event or make your donation today? Here are five solid reasons why:

1. Meet other young professional philanthropists

Young professionals age 22 – 30 are invited to come try out LINC any time. By making an annual gift of $250 or more to United Way of Central Indiana, you join the ranks of individuals making a difference in Central Indiana. If you are new to our city, here for a new job, on your way to a graduate degree, or just entering the workforce – LINC members and friends want to know you. Bring a friend or come alone to our next “philanthro-party.”

2. Get connected to new opportunities

Navigating the social and human service organizations and programs in our city can be daunting! Don’t let that stop you from getting connected to meaningful new opportunities. With our more than 80 agencies and catalog of programs and partners, United Way staff can help you identify where you want to put your passion, time and energy. Make an impact you can see right away!

3. Build your resume as a LINC Leader

Looking to develop leadership skills and set the meaningful agenda for future LINC events and partnerships? Want to involve more young professionals in the fight for the education, financial stability, health and basic needs of every member of our community? Lend your talents to our LINC Steering Committee – open to any full LINC member. Related:Get to Know Hannah, a LINC Steering Committee Member

4. Try something (and somewhere) new

LINC with Starfish Initiative

LINC “philanthro-parties” are designed to take you to new places and spaces in our city. Tour a domestic violence shelter. Build garden boxes in a nearby food desert. Attend a holiday party at an iconic downtown venue. You can even try out LINC with our “try-before-you-buy” model. Check out as many of our monthly events for FREE before committing to membership. (Hint: we don’t think it will take that long for you to join our ranks.)

5. Have FUN!

There’s a reason it’s called #socialgood; it’s meant to be shared with like-minded people. You can be a game changer for our neighbors in need -- all you have to do is raise your hand to join in on the fun. We are good deeds and a good time.
