United Way of Central Indiana names new community relations director for Morgan, Hendricks and Putnam counties
INDIANAPOLIS – United Way of Central Indiana (UWCI) today announced the official appointment of Chris Flegal, former executive director of United Way of Putnam County (UWPC), to the role of community relations director for Hendricks, Morgan and Putnam counties. Flegal joins UWCI after the organizations merged in early April. He will replace Diana Roy, who is retiring at the end of the month after 20 years of extraordinary service.
As community relations director for the southwest region of UWCI’s service area, Flegal will be responsible for increasing the visibility of United Way’s work, engaging stakeholders in impact initiatives and programs, and collaborating with organizations and individuals to help address the needs of each county. Flegal joins other community relations team members, Aaron Gore (Hamilton and Boone counties) and Jeannie Roberts (Hancock County), as part of the marketing, communications and community relations department at UWCI.
“I am excited for the opportunity to serve Hendricks, Morgan and Putnam Counties and am grateful to be joining such an esteemed team,” said Flegal. “I am a big believer in the mission of United Way and have been fortunate to see its life-changing work in Putnam County. I look forward to advancing the impact of United Way of Central Indiana in the region.”
In his previous role at UWPC, Flegal brought together various stakeholders to achieve meaningful impact throughout the community. His work alongside donors and volunteers positioned the United Way as an asset in Putnam County, helping to advance the health, education, and financial stability of local residents. In addition to his work at the United Way, Chris is the co-founder and leader of the Putnam County Mural Project, which recently installed Indiana’s largest mural on four grain silos in Greencastle. He has previously served as the Community Engagement Coordinator for DePauw School of Music, as well as the Executive Director of the Greencastle Summer Music Festival.
Flegal holds a M.A. in Arts Administration from Indiana University and a B.S. in Music Business from Greenville University. Originally from Harrisburg, PA, Chris now resides in Greencastle with his wife Kayla, their 18-month-old daughter Rhea, and a Boston Terrier named Ortiz. In his free time, Chris enjoys bicycling, hiking, and skiing.
